CVT features
The CVT has a simpler structure and smaller size than the traditional transmission. It has neither as many gears as the manual transmission, nor the complex planetary gear set of the automatic transmission. It mainly relies on the driving wheel, the driven wheel and the metal belt to achieve the stepless change of speed ratio. CVT can achieve good economy, power and ride comfort, and reduce emissions and costs. However, CVT has poor ability to bear torsion and responds slowly to velocity changes. The CVT shift lever is the same as the ordinary AT shift lever.
The structure principle of CVT
CVT is composed of planetary wheel mechanism, CVT mechanism and control system, etc. The planetary wheel mechanism is used to realize the switching operation between forward and reverse gears. The continuously variable speed mechanism mainly includes active cone disk, driven cone disk and drive steel belt.
The power output by the engine is transferred to the active cone plate of THE CVT, which drives the drive belt by friction action, and then the drive belt drives the driven cone plate by friction action, and finally the power output by the driven cone plate. CVT can change the transmission ratio by changing the rotation radius of the main and driven cone disks. Active, driven cone plate on the belt to increase or reduce the compression force, can promote the belt to move inward or outward. The active fixed cone plate is equipped with an induction ring, and the output shaft is also equipped with an induction ring, which is used by the ECU to detect its speed.
The CVT also has a planetary gear mechanism, which, along with the clutch and brake, functions as forward and reverse gears. When the reverse brake works, the planetary frame of the planetary wheel mechanism is fixed, the sun wheel is active, the gear ring is driven, so as to achieve reverse transmission. When the front feeding clutch is working, the planetary gear mechanism planetary frame and gear ring are connected together, the planetary gear mechanism operates as a whole, transmission ratio is 1, and steering is the same.
