Transmission shaft used in Steyr series heavy vehicles

Steyr series heavy trucks choose different types of transmission shafts according to different driving forms. Generally speaking, 4 × 2. There are not only middle transmission shaft, main transmission shaft, middle and rear axle transmission shaft, but also front axle drive transmission shaft. In the middle of long wheelbase vehicles, the transmission shaft is generally provided with a transmission shaft middle support, which is composed of a support frame, a bearing and a rubber support.

The transmission shaft is composed of shaft tube, telescopic sleeve and universal joint. The telescopic sleeve can automatically adjust the change of the distance between the transmission and the drive axle. The universal joint ensures the change of the included angle between the output shaft of the transmission and the input shaft of the drive axle, and realizes the constant angular speed transmission of the two shafts. Generally, the universal joint is composed of a cross shaft, a cross bearing and a flange fork.

 

The universal joint of transmission shaft used by Steyr series heavy vehicles adopts roller cross shaft bearing, which can transmit large torque with short and thick cross shaft. A butterfly spring is arranged on the end face of the bearing to compress the roller. The end face of the cross shaft is added with reinforced nylon gasket with spiral groove, which can prevent sintering when transmitting power with large included angle or large torque.

The expansion sleeve of transmission shaft with traditional structure is to weld the spline sleeve and flange fork together, and weld the spline shaft on the transmission shaft tube. The transmission shaft of GWB company changed the traditional structure, welded the spline sleeve and the transmission shaft tube into one, and made the spline shaft and the flange fork into one. The rectangular tooth spline is changed into involute short tooth spline with large pressure angle, which not only increases the strength, but also facilitates extrusion forming, and meets the needs of high torque working conditions. The tooth surfaces of the telescopic sleeve and the spline shaft are coated with a layer of nylon material as a whole, which not only increases the wear resistance and self lubrication, but also reduces the damage of the impact load to the transmission shaft and improves the cushioning capacity

This type of transmission shaft adds a tubular sealing protective sleeve outside the flange spline shaft, and two polyurethane rubber oil seals are set at the end of the protective sleeve, so that a completely sealed space is formed in the telescopic sleeve, so that the telescopic spline shaft is not eroded by external sand and dust, which is not only dust-proof but also rust proof. Therefore, applying grease in the spline shaft and sleeve at one time during assembly can fully meet the use requirements, there is no need to install oil nozzle for lubrication, and the maintenance content is reduced.

The transmission shaft is a rotating body with high speed and less support, so its dynamic balance is very important. Generally, the transmission shaft shall be subject to action balance test before leaving the factory and adjusted on the balancing machine. Therefore, a set of transmission shafts are matched and delivered, which should be paid special attention in use.
